Vital to Your Health and Well-Being

Skin care has never been more vital to our health and well-being. The many pollutants in the air that surround us, the additives in the food we eat, the stress in our busy lives all take a heavy toll on our health and appearance.

Sun Damage to Skin

Skin cancer, acne and premature aging is more prevalent than ever. Skin cancer has risen from 1 in 1500 in 1935, 1 in 100 in 1995, and 1 in 75 in 2000. Ninety percent of the aging process is due to the sun and 70% through casual exposure; 80% of sun damage occurs by the age of 18.

Tanning beds alter your immune system functions, and 15-30 minutes is equivalent to a whole day at the beach. The facts are astounding. Yet very few people take care of their skin and use sunscreen everyday. Taking care of your skin should be an important daily procedure, like brushing your teeth, after all it’s our largest organ and does hold us all together!

My mission is to give you a beneficial, relaxing experience in a private, soothing atmosphere at a reasonable cost. You can have a beautiful complexion, using pure products, targeting problems with organic substances, having regular facials to deep clean, exfoliate dead cells and promote cell regeneration, getting enough sleep, and time to relax, eating healthy and drinking lots of water!

Electrolysis is the only method of permanent hair removal. It was first developed in the United States in 1875 and later modified in France. A professional and skilled electrologist inserts a fine probe alongside the hair in the follicle. Then a small amount of electrical current or heat is applied to destroy the hair papilla (root) so each hair can then be easily removed. Since hair grows in stages, additional growth may reappear, but subsequent follow-up visits and following a regime will result in permanency. Because electrolysis removes hair permanently, you will be saving time and money spent over a lifetime using temporary methods such as: shaving, waxing, bleaching, creams, or depilatories.

Areas That Can Be Treated

Women: face, chest, breasts, abdomen, arms, fingers, legs, feet, and bikini
(NOTE: breast of pregnant women cannot be treated.)

Men: face, ears, chest, back and shoulders
(Additional NOTE: moles can be treated with a physician's note)

What Kind of Needles are Used?

New sterilized disposable probes are used for each and every treatment.

Is the Treatment Painful?

Discomfort during electrolysis is relative to each individual patient and the areas being treated. Some find treatments on the upper lip and inner thigh slightly uncomfortable while other patients say they feel nothing more than a slight tingling or heat sensation. There is less discomfort on the legs, forearms, chest and breast areas.

How Long Does It Take to Kill the Hair Permanent?

An electrolysis treatment program must be tailored to meet each individual patient's needs. Certain factors determine the number and length of treatments. They are: number of hairs in the area, sensitivity of the skin, area to be treated, previous methods of hair removal—tweezing, waxing or depilatories. I offer a complimentary consultation which includes 10-minutes of electrolysis work. The closer you adhere to your treatment schedule, the more effective your treatment program will be in helping you free yourself of superfluous (unwanted) hair forever.

How Many Treatments are Required?

Treatments will be more frequent in the beginning and less frequent later on. Eventually the hair ceases. For example: work on the chin, sides of face, eyebrows and upper lip areas require one or two visits per week in 15 to 30 minute sessions. This regime is continued for approximately one month to avoid the temptation of tweezing or waxing. After the initial clearing of the area, usually one 15-30 minute visit every 2 weeks, which tapers down to once each month.

What causes hair to grow?

  • Stress
  • Heredity is the key culprit
  • Reactions to certain medications
  • Glandular or hormonal imbalances
  • Pregnancy
  • Normal hormonal changes at different stages of your life
  • Excessive waxing, tweezing and all temporary methods of hair removal

Is Electrolysis Safe, Effective and Approved?

Probe (needle) type electrolysis is the only safe method of permanent hair removal that is recognized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Other methods such as laser hair removal are considered permanent hair reduction.

What Should I Do in Between Treatments?

Do not tweeze or wax! Just trim the hair with a pair of scissors as close to the skin as possible. Shaving also will not stimulate hair growth, but the hair needs to be slightly visible above the skin surface to be able to be treated. Some women bleach the upper lip and sides of their face. Bleaching is fine as long as you bleach the hair a week before the appointment. Keep in mind, the bleach could cut some hairs before the appointment and again the hair needs to be slightly visible.

What Methods of Electrolysis are Available?

The galvanic method is the first method developed, which is rarely used alone. This current produces a caustic substance in the follicle, which keeps damaging the hair root even after the hair has been removed from the follicle. This method is the slowest method.

The thermolysis method is the method of using heat to damage and kill the hair root (papilla). It is mostly used on large areas, and can release the hair quicker. However, if the follicles are distorted the regrowth is more than with the blend method.

The blend method is the combination of both galvanic and thermolysis currents. The heat effectively damages the hair root and the galvanic leaves a caustic substance behind to keep working. The regrowth is less with this method.

All three modalities are safe, effective, and permanent.

What Should I Expect After a Treatment?

It is normal to have some swelling or redness in the treated area, for a few minutes to one hour. You must keep the area clean, keep perfumes and irritants away from the skin for a few days and do not touch. An ice pack or cold compress can reduce swelling. Rarely, two to four days after your treatment small scabs may appear on the body, the treatment on the face is usually kept low to prevent this. I recommend the application of an antibiotic cream or medicated cosmetic lotion to enhance the healing process. Less cosmetic use and no sun exposure for 24 hours are also recommended after your treatment. Most people have no reaction after the redness (I hour) has subsided.

Waxing—Quick Temporary Hair Removal

Waxing is also offered for those large areas, or a quick solution to temporary hair removal. The hair must be at least ¼ of an inch long, usually 2-4 weeks growth. Cold honey and sugar waxes are used on sensitive skin and warm aloe and cream waxes are used on large, heavy growth areas. All areas are pretreated for sanitation and soothed after treatment with Aloe Vera creams and/or a soothing mask.

Our Excellent Products

I use pure botanical products whenever possible. Keeping your skin clean, well toned and moisturized (and protected) is essential; it looks great, smells great and feels great. I am always researching new products and their benefits to introduce to my studio.

I utilize the benefits of liposomal technology, which enables molecules to be made smaller and capsulated in serums to penetrate the first layer of the skin. Most molecules are too big and sit on the surface of the skin. Collagen, for example, is very beneficial if it can be broken down small enough to penetrate the first layer.
